An Inside Look at Hoboken’s Newest Pet Food Shop, JustFoodForDogs
If there’s one thing Hoboken is known for (apart from amazing waterfront views) it’s how dog-friendly the community is. With multiple dog parks and various events for pups it seems like everyone, including businesses, are happy to have pups join in on the fun. So it’s no surprise that JustFoodForDogs, located at 1125 Maxwell Lane in Hoboken, has opened its newest location right here in the Mile Square with the goal of improving dogs’ health with every bite. Keep reading to learn more about the dog-forward brand and how its local team of veterinarians are helping our furry-loved ones improve their quality of life with fresh food.
Fresh, Human Grade Dog Food Backed by Veterinarian Nutritionists
Dogs are some of the most loved members of our families, which is why Shawn Buckley, a dog-loving successful entrepreneur started the company after reading the ingredients of a bag of kibble, knowing there must be a better way to feed our furry friends. JustFoodForDogs is fresh human-grade food made for dogs, created by a team of veterinarians including a nutritionist, toxicologist, and dermatologist to ensure each of the recipes are nutritionally balanced for your four-legged loved ones.
“We started the fresh food movement in 2010, when we launched the first-ever kitchen for dogs, making fresh food out in the open for all to see. Each of our recipes has been formulated by our team of veterinarians and overseen by a Board-Certified Veterinary Nutritionist to ensure that our recipes are nutritionally balanced,” Jill McLoughlin told The Hoboken Girl. “In addition to freshly cooked meals, we also sell shelf stable, fresh food in tetra packs, Do It Yourself nutritional packets, and supplements.”
With nearly 50 locations nationwide and 500 employees, each kitchen or pantry is staffed by veterinary-trained nutrition consultants who can help determine the best choice for your pup and answer all of your pet-related questions.
“Part of why we chose Hoboken is because we love how close Hoboken is as a community,” Jill shared. “We especially love the local dog parks on the water and meeting new pup families.”
Fresh Food to Improve Pet Health
JustFoodforDogs works to help dogs live their longest and best lives through the power of fresh food, with recipes that are backed by science.
“Our food is cooked in open-kitchens, and the fact that we provide therapeutic and custom diets for dogs with specific nutrition needs really sets us apart from other pet food companies,” Jill mentioned. “Our recipes are also made available to the public so pet parents can cook for their pups at home.”
Fresh recipes include meals like Turkey Whole Wheat Macaroni, which is perfect for large-breed adult dogs, and is made with ground turkey, whole wheat macaroni, broccoli, zucchini, carrots, turkey liver, cranberries, fish oil, and a housemade JFFD nutrient blend. Another popular recipe is the Fish + Sweet Potato, which is great for all dogs, and includes wild-caught Alaska Pacific Cod, sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, green beans, broccoli, safflower oil, and the JFFD nutrient blend for added health benefits.
Team HG recently visited the new shop on Maxwell Lane and our pup absolutely loved the best-selling chicken and pumpkin snacks. Another favorite was the beef liver bark pup treats but in our pup’s opinion, you really can’t go wrong.
“The best part of running this business is changing dogs’ lives forever and knowing the impact fresh food can make in their overall health + quality of life,” Jill mentioned. “We so often hear how happy a pet parent is that they made the switch to JFFD and that in just two weeks they’ve never had their dog happier or healthier.”
Don’t forget that first time customers can receive 20{95b18eb6fc4f42efd0d92738dfc3fb79fde21da267a711ecdf0381147c27bb86} off the first two weeks of food. Be sure to let them know The Hoboken Girl sent you.
