Central Bark Carol Stream celebrates grand opening

All breeds of canines (along with their humans) enjoyed a tail wagging good time at the grand opening of the Chicago area’s newest doggy day care, Central Bark Carol Stream.

There were enrichment activities for any interest including dog bone puzzles, a doggy art studio, create your own cookie, and a pet photo booth.

Dogs received nail trims and their owners got health and behavior information like canine dental health, bite prevention, canine dental health, pet CPR, and first aid.

Pet adoptions were presented by Naperville-based A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter, and there was food as well as face painting and coloring for the human kids.

Located at 160 West Elk Trail, Central Bark Carol Stream is owned and operated by Dr. Mondrian Contreras, the founder and chief veterinarian at Carol Stream Animal Hospital. It features a 5,000 square-foot indoor facility and 2,000 square feet of outdoor play areas

“As a veterinarian, I’ve had this inherent understanding for a very long time about what dogs need both socially and medically,” said Dr. Contreras. “From doggy day care, to grooming, boarding, a retail market, and more — we have everything you need for your dog to be a healthy, happy, and well-rounded member of the family.”

Central Bark Carol Stream opened just a few weeks ago and pet parents have been lining up since day one to enroll their dogs in the facility’s re-imagined approach to whole dog care. For nearly 20 years, Central Bark has drawn in dogs and their owners across the country to experience its Enrichment Doggy Day Care, which combines Central Bark’s industry-leading doggy day care expertise with the latest in canine behavior science. Enrichment Doggy Day Care provides a healthy and balanced blend of exercise, social group play, learning, rest, and love. Central Bark also offers dog boarding, baths, grooming, a retail market, training and more.

“There is something simple and beautiful about a well-adjusted dog that everyone can relate to — it’s very strong and powerful,” said Chris Gaba, co-founder of Central Bark.

A staff of approximately 12 and a dedicated management team runs day-to-day operations at Central Bark while Dr. Contreras oversees the business. Central Bark serves Carol Stream along with western suburbs of Glendale Heights, Lakewood, and Glen Ellyn.

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Contreras to the Central Bark family and we’re very excited for what he has in store for the Carol Stream dog community,” said Bob Crawford, CEO of Central Bark. “As a veterinarian, Dr. Contreras is the ideal owner because he can leverage his years of study and medical practice to bring next level whole dog care to pet parents across the region.”

It is open Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and weekends by appointment only. To contact the store directly, visit www.centralbarkusa.com/carol-stream/ or call (630) 984-2275.
